What are campaigns?

LSURJ mobilizes white people to take action on racial justice issues through coordinated campaigns, often in collaboration with minority-led strategic partners. These campaigns are fluid, sometimes lasting years, other times just an election cycle. But EVERY campaign LSURJ chooses to engage in move us closer to our vision of a multi-racial democracy that can put an end to oppression in all its forms. Take a look at the issues we're currently tackling and join us in the fight!

2026 Elections

The 2026 Elections are upon us and LSURJ is backing several local candidates who are committed to racial justice and fighting for the every day working class people in our community. Take a look at who we're endorsing in this year's primary races and sign up to canvass with LSURJ!

Care, Not Cages

Care not Cages (CNC)is a campaign to end mass incarceration through investments in safe and proven alternatives to keep our community safe. The LSURJ CNC team focuses on de-carceration (get people out, keep people out), abolition, cash bail reform, building a base for alternatives to jail, stopping a new jail. Care Not Cages (CNC) participates in the Bench Warrant Amnesty Days and in the LMDC stakeholders on jail deaths and conditions. CNC is in a strategic partnership coalition (Care Not Cages Coalition) with VOCAL-KY, Forward Justice, ACLU of KY and DOVE Delegates.

Community Defense Network

LSURJ Community Defense Network (CDN) recruits and trains people to show up for communities under attack.  This is a rapid response network. As part of CDN we're spreading the message that We are All Neighbors through our Neighbors Keep Neighbors Safe door-to-door campaign. You may have seen some of our yard signs in your neighborhood.

Showing Up for Students

The Showing up for Students team works for equity in schools, challenges security measures that feed the school-to-prison pipeline, defends vulnerable students, and defends public education.
