Are you looking for a mayor who will stand up for what is right? A mayor who champions the working class, vulnerable, and marginalized communities? Here are just a few reasons you should vote to elect Shameka Parrish-Wright!
  • Shameka has first hand experience with the systems that impact Louisville's most vulnerable.
  • Shameka has been a strategic partner of LSURJ from the beginning.
  • As a Metro Councilwoman she has fought for police accountability, sponsoring and pushing for the passage of the resolution on police accountability - the only written record naming those who lost their lives at the hands of LMPD.
  • As Director of VOCAL-KY she works with the most vulnerable to end AIDS, the failed war on drugs, mass incarceration, and homelessness. VOCAL-KY is a member of the Care Not Cages Coalition advocating for alternative to incarceration.
  • She has been a fearless, outspoken supporter for a Ceasefire in Gaza and a defender of rights for immigrants and trans-people.
  • We couldn't ask for a better friend or advocate to fight for racial justice!

Betsy Ruhe for Metro Council District 21

There is no stronger advocate for the needs of the people in District 21 than Metro Councilwoman Betsy Ruhe. As a former teacher for children with special needs in JCPS, Ruhe is no stranger to serving the Louisville community. Here are just a few of the reasons we encourage her constituents to re-elect Betsy Ruhe:
  • Betsy is an active member of LSURJ's Community Defense Network.
  • She supported the Metro Council ordinance to ban law enforcement from wearing masks.
  • Betsy is committed to improving city regulations for homeless shelters and led the adoption of the ordinance that establishes clear and flexible guidelines for shelters responding to emergencies.
  • She is a visible and accessible leader who can be seen walking the streets of the neighborhoods she represents.
  • She co-sponsored the Metro Council resolution on police accountability, acknowledging the harm done to the community by LMPD
  • Whether it is concerns about affordable housing, clean and accessible parks, and safety for immigrant families, Ruhe's is a voice we can count on to speak up for ALL people in need.
